Officially opening on January 1^st 2026, Adelaide University is a future-focussed university that combines the strengths of University of South Australia and the University of Adelaide to deliver nation-leading curriculum and student experience, greater access to education, and world class research excellence.  This significant merger requires the amalgamation of the existing associations and creation of the new Adelaide University Student Association (AUSA) which will represent the interests of thousands of student members.  A transition board is being formed to oversee the formation of this important association and now seeks two completely independent governance professionals.

The AUSA Transition Board will provide strategic leadership and governance, guiding the entity in fulfilling its vision and ensuring effective oversight of its future activities and services.  Candidates with expertise in the following areas are sought:

• finance (ideally CA/CPA);
• legal, risk, and governance.

Applications are encouraged from experienced and accomplished non-executive directors with demonstrated experience in strategic planning and governance.  High level communication, advocacy, and stakeholder management abilities are essential, as are the warmth, empathy, integrity, pragmatism and credibility necessary to inspire others to follow and contribute.  Relevant governance qualifications (AICD) and experience in a large and complex organisation undergoing significant change will naturally be highly regarded.

The successful candidates will ideally have no material links to the two formation universities and be committed to fostering a culture of collaboration and support and will possess a visionary, proactive, and solution oriented mindset, complemented by both commercial and political acumen.
