Andrew joined Hender Consulting as a Senior Consultant in 2002, progressed to the Principal Consultant position and was appointed as General Manager in 2016. His qualifications include a Bachelor of Economics from the University of Adelaide and a Graduate Diploma in Education. Prior to his consulting career, Andrew spent 15 years in leadership roles within the independent school sector.

During his time with the firm, Andrew has been entrusted by a diverse range of public and private entities to assist with the executive search for and appointment of the most pivotal roles within the organisation. He has recruited literally hundreds of Chief Executives, General Managers and other senior executives along with over 40 school Principals (see track record for more detail).

Andrew also provides high level strategic people and culture advice and consulting services such as independent executive appraisals, remuneration advice and structural reviews. In addition, he regularly partners with Boards in the search for and appointment of Non Executive Directors and regularly presents on leadership and broader people and culture matters.

Justin joined Hender Consulting in 2004. His qualifications include a Bachelor of Arts with a major in Legal Studies, Diploma in Human Resource Management and he is an active member of the Australian Human Resources Institute.

Prior to joining Hender, Justin spent nearly 5 years with an Adelaide based international professional services firm. Throughout his extensive career in executive search and recruitment, Justin has been engaged by a diverse range of public and private entities to assist with the executive search and recruitment of literally hundreds of senior executive positions, including some of the most high profile and public appointments.

Justin’s consulting experience extends to CEO and GM appraisals, remuneration reviews and organisational structure advice.

Gill has over 25 years experience as a recruitment consultant in both the executive and administration fields, sourcing candidates for permanent as well as contract roles. Since joining Hender Consulting in 2004, Gill has worked in permanent executive recruitment and search across a broad range of industries including federal, state and local government, professional services, financial services, health, aged care, education, the arts, wine, retail, manufacturing and a range of not for profit organisations.

She has ably assisted clients across a variety of disciplines including CEO and general management, human resources, finance, business development, marketing and communications, fundraising and sponsorship, project management, contract management, facilities management, engineering, planning, governance and corporate services.

Prior to joining the recruitment industry, Gill held generalist human resources positions within the retail sector and state government.

Trish joined Hender Consulting in 2020 having previously worked alongside Hender lead consultants earlier in her career. She has experience spanning three decades, both in Victoria and South Australia, in recruiting at the executive and administrative levels. Her experience covers senior appointments in a wide range of sectors including state and local government, corporate, professional services, not-for-profit, retail and manufacturing.

In addition to her recruitment capability, Trish brings experience gained through senior administrative positions in government, not-for-profit and industry. She has recently returned from interstate where she led the customer service operation for a significant not-for-profit with a medical research base.

Commencing her recruitment career in 1997, Bernie is one of Adelaide’s most respected and experienced executive recruiters with extensive experience across a diverse range of sectors and disciplines.

Her significant consulting career in executive search and selection is further enhanced with in-house experience from large complex enterprises in recruitment leadership and management roles with the University of South Australia and Bendigo Adelaide Bank. She is widely acknowledged as a highly engaged, knowledgeable, responsive and ethical consultant.

Following 13.5 years prior service with the firm, Bernie returned to Hender in early 2022 bringing significant experience in higher education, human services, financial services, not-for-profit, government and corporate appointments. She continues to focus on Director, CEO, C-suite and senior management search and selection, along with associated consulting services.

Julieann joined Hender Consulting in 2017 as an Executive Assistant to the General Manager and Team Coordinator. Prior to starting at Hender, Julieann worked in senior support roles in the manufacturing industry.

Julieann provides EA support to the General Manager and leads a team of highly experienced executive support professionals.  She also brings a broad range of experience in office administration, including executive support, maintaining confidential and sensitive materials, calendar management and provides responsive and professional services to the client and candidate alike.

Tanya joined Hender Consulting in 2023 as an Executive Assistant. Prior to commencing with Hender, Tanya was employed as an Executive Assistant supporting CEOs in the not-for-profit sector and also worked in industries including hospitality, State Government, utilities and executive recruitment.

Tanya provides EA support to the Executive Consulting team. She brings many years’ experience in providing high level administration support to senior executives and Boards.

Her professional expertise dealing with clients and candidates as well as her confidential and friendly attitude makes her a great asset to the Hender Consulting team.

Dorothy initially joined Hender Consulting in 2001 providing executive assistant and para consulting support to Senior Consultants over several years.  For the next two decades she broadened her experience to include business support and executive assistant roles in executive recruitment, professional services, engineering consulting, financial planning, utilities and three years internationally, living and working in the USA with large oil and gas companies.

Returning to Hender Consulting in 2023 as Team Administrator, Dorothy is a welcome addition to our business support team. Her multi-sector knowledge ranging from large international to small boutique professional services organisations, ensures she is able to easily engage with and support our diverse range of clients, assignments and candidates.

Her professional and customer-oriented focus, humble, compassionate and fun demeanor are highly valued in our team and in her outstanding service provision to clients and candidates.

Debra joined Hender Consulting in 2023 as a Team Administrator. Prior to commencing with Hender, Debra spent four years running her own small business. She has spent time working both interstate and overseas including living in London, working with a large UK charity managing and cultivating major donors. Before this working with NSW Health in a major children’s hospital as a Health Services Manager. Debra also has business and management experience in the motoring and finance industries.

Debra brings versatility and a wealth of experience to our business support team. Her expertise dealing with a variety clients and candidates as well as her confident friendly manner makes her a valued member of the Hender Consulting team.

Marisa Hunt is a Member of the Recruitment and Consulting Services Association of Australia and New Zealand (RCSA), possessing Human Resources consulting qualifications through Monash University.  Marisa demonstrates more than 20 years experience in recruitment, having held various consulting and senior consulting positions. Marisa’s experience spans contract and permanent recruitment including specialising in the finance and accounting disciplines for over 15 years from support to interim management level.

She has also developed broader experience recruiting across other commercial and business disciplines including human resources, OH&S, marketing and communications, administration management and specialist roles from mid to senior level appointments.

Marisa has previously provided ongoing recruitment services for key account relationships with other organisations.  She demonstrates significant experience supplying high volume on-hire staff to commercial enterprise as well as State Government as the Account Manager for the Whole of Government account.

Mark Hender is one of Australia’s most experienced executive recruiters, having worked in the industry for more than 30 years. Mark established Hender Consulting in 1993 and is the Managing Director of the Hender Group.
