    With its head office in Adelaide, 150 dedicated staff and a turnover approaching $25m, HAMB Systems Limited (HAMBS) is an Australian company owned by 15 private health insurance funds across Australia representing 25 brands.  For over 30 years, the sole objective of the company has been to provide ongoing application software development, technical support and a selection of secure wide area network services, including application hosting, to the member funds.

    Reporting to the CEO and as a key member of the Executive Leadership Team, the Chief Risk Officer is accountable for shaping and supporting the organisation’s strategic direction and long term goals through effective risk and compliance leadership.  Responsibilities of this newly created role include:

    • setting and leading enterprise risk and compliance strategy and providing strategic advice to the Executive Leadership Team and Board;
    • overseeing comprehensive risk management activities including identification, assessment, mitigation, monitoring and reporting;
    • driving and continuously improving risk management and compliance frameworks;
    • overseeing privacy, business continuity, cyber risk and regulatory compliance and ensuring preparedness for critical incidents;
    • leading, managing, developing and motivating the dedicated risk team;
    • fostering an enterprise-wide compliance and risk culture which supports operational excellence, business continuity and informed decision making.

    Applications are encouraged from appropriately qualified senior risk and compliance professionals with experience in a similarly complex or regulated environment balancing risk mitigation and business enablement.  Success in designing and implementing risk frameworks, compliance programs and governance structures at an enterprise level will be required along with experience in advising executives and boards on risk, compliance, cyber security and business continuity matters.  Also important will be high level leadership, influencing, communication and stakeholder engagement skills combined with strong ethical judgement, professional integrity and discretion in handling sensitive matters.

    It is envisaged that the position will be 0.6 FTE with consideration given to additional scope for a candidate sufficiently experienced to also undertake Company Secretary responsibilities.
