The South Australian Produce Market Limited (SAPML), an unlisted public company, is the State’s premier wholesale hub for fresh fruit and vegetables, where over 265,000 tonnes of fresh produce valued at more than $600 million are traded annually between wholesalers, growers and retail operators.  Spanning a 36-hectare site, SAPML provides advanced facilities for cold storage, logistics, quality control, and biosecurity, and is committed to sustainability, innovation and supporting South Australia’s horticultural sector.  With a strong financial position and a clear strategic plan, SAPML is poised for continued growth and transformation.

An outstanding opportunity has arisen for a Chief Executive Officer to lead the dynamic and evolving SAPM market community through its next chapter.  Reporting to a highly skilled board, key responsibilities include:

• driving the delivery of SAPML’s strategic plan, including operational excellence, site capacity development under the Master Plan and further development of the biosecurity facility;
• leading, mentoring, and developing a committed team to foster a culture of accountability, safety and high performance;
• overseeing financial management and governance to ensure strong returns and sustainable growth;
• leading organisational capability initiatives, including technology upgrades and business transformation improvements;
• representing SAPML as a principal advocate, strengthening relationships with stakeholders across government, industry, and the community and championing initiatives that promote South Australia’s fresh produce sector.

This position will suit a highly accomplished senior executive with a track record of success in a comparably complex, asset intensive or logistics driven environment.  Knowledge of wholesale markets or agribusiness, and experience with public companies and reporting under the Corporations Act 2001 is also desired.
