    Established in 2015, The Zahra Foundation is a highly respected not for profit organisation dedicated to empowering women recovering from domestic and family violence.  With a mission to create pathways to safety, empowerment, and independence, the Foundation provides critical trauma-informed support services, financial counselling, educational programs and advocacy.

    Reporting to the Board, the Chief Executive Officer leads a highly dedicated and passionate team committed to making a transformative impact for the lives of survivors.  Key responsibilities include:

    • in conjunction with Board, lead the development and execution of strategic plans aligned with the Foundation’s mission and goals;
    • ensuring compliance with legislative and statutory requirements, maintaining sound governance, and providing timely and meaningful reporting to the Board;
    • leading the organisation with a focus on staff engagement, capability building, and a culture of empowerment and resilience;
    • ensuring financial sustainability through effective resource management, compliance, and risk management;
    • promoting the Foundation’s mission through engaging and impactful communication with stakeholders including clients, staff, donors, and the broader community;
    • building and maintaining enduring, productive relationships with government, corporate partners, and community organisations, to strengthen partnerships, reach and impact.

    Applications are encouraged from appropriately qualified and experienced leadership professionals with a deep commitment to the mission of empowering survivors of domestic and family violence.  Essential experience and qualities include:

    • proven leadership skills with the ability to inspire and engage a diverse team;
    • strong strategic planning, foresight and execution capabilities;
    • demonstrated experience in financial management, governance and sustainability;
    • the ability to effectively advocate for the Foundation’s mission and engage with a wide range of stakeholders as the spokesperson for the Foundation;
    • warmth, empathy, authenticity, resilience and a strong ethical compass.

    Offered as an ongoing appointment, flexible work arrangements will be considered.
