    With origins as an artists’ collective in 1984, Nexus Arts has continuously played a significant social and cultural role in the Adelaide arts ecology.  Today, Nexus Arts are leaders in culturally diverse and intercultural artistic practice.  The only contemporary arts organisation in the State with this focus, Nexus Arts presents contemporary art which explores, promotes and celebrates cultural diversity.  Fostering excellence by supporting culturally and linguistically diverse and First Nations artists through development programs and presentation opportunities and engaging broad audiences to experience diverse artistic practice, Nexus Arts has a reputation for sector-leading, dynamic work.

    Following many years of stable and consistent Board membership, several long term Directors are stepping down.  With a newly appointed Co-CEO leadership team and continued local, state and federal funding, this transition presents an important opportunity to refresh and strengthen governance capability.  The newly appointed volunteer Board Members will play an important role in helping to guide Nexus Arts through its next chapter of strategic growth, sustainability and sector influence.

    Volunteer Non-Executive Directors with expertise in one or more of the following disciplines are sought:

    • legal, risk and governance;
    • human resources management;
    • publicity, marketing and communications;
    • fundraising, philanthropy and relationship management;
    • general and strategic business acumen.

    In addition, the organisation is particularly interested in candidates who bring:

    • experience or understanding of the South Australian arts and cultural sector;
    • knowledge of publicly funded organisations;
    • cultural competency.

    Applications are encouraged from both experienced and emerging governance professionals with a true desire to contribute to the vision and mission of this highly valued arts organisation.  Alongside the above professional skillsets, applications are strongly encouraged from First Nations peoples and people from culturally diverse backgrounds.  Superior communication, advocacy, and stakeholder management abilities are important, as are the warmth, empathy, integrity and credibility necessary to inspire others to follow and contribute.

    The Nexus Arts Board can accommodate a hybrid model.  Therefore, applications are encouraged from both local and interstate professionals who can demonstrate an understanding of the South Australian arts and cultural landscape.

    Make an enquiry to explore these fulfilling volunteer governance roles offering a genuine opportunity to make a strategic contribution to this bold and visionary organisation with an active social conscience.
