Drive commercial ventures for a progressive major council

Lead Strategic Growth for City of Salisbury’s recycled water entity

Reporting to the Deputy Chief Executive Officer and as a key member of the Senior Leadership Team, the Divisional Head Business Development will drive strategic growth for council’s established recycled water business, Salisbury Water, and explore new commercial opportunities aligned with the organisation’s capabilities.  Leading a small high performing team, this role will shape the future of water services and related ventures through strategic planning, stakeholder engagement and operational excellence.  Key responsibilities include:

• developing and implementing a business development strategy to expand recycled water services, identifying new revenue streams;
• leading feasibility studies, business cases, and risk assessments for new initiatives to support regional growth;
• building and maintaining strong relationships with government agencies, developers, and industry partners, representing the organisation in high level negotiations and policy discussions;
• overseeing divisional budgets, financial performance and resource allocation while driving efficiency and innovation in service delivery and infrastructure planning;
• ensuring compliance with relevant legislation, standards, and environmental requirements across all operations;
• leading and developing a high performing team focused on business development, stakeholder engagement and continuous improvement.

You will be a proven commercial leader with extensive experience in business development within utilities, water services or infrastructure sectors, and capable of delivering growth and innovation in a competitive market.  Highly developed stakeholder engagement and negotiation skills, along with the ability to navigate complex regulatory environments are essential.  A sound understanding of water industry regulations, sustainability principles and local government frameworks, supported by relevant tertiary qualifications will be highly regarded.
