The Wine Grape Council of SA (WGCSA) is the peak body for South Australian grape growers, funded by a combination of government grants and a voluntary levy paid on all winegrapes sold from SA vineyards. This peak council provides a single voice for Grape Growers to Industry, Wineries, Agriculture, all levels of Government and other forums, whilst working towards a resilient, sustainable and viable grape growing Industry in SA.
The Chair of WGCSA provides strategic leadership and governance oversight, ensuring the Committee operates effectively and in the best interests of South Australia’s wine grape growers. Further, the Chair serves as the primary liaison between the Committee and the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and represents the interests of South Australian wine grape growers at state and national levels.
Applications are encouraged from appropriately qualified senior executives and non-executive directors with a strong understanding of the South Australian wine grape sector and its regulatory, economic and environmental context. High levels of commercial and political acumen, complemented by exceptional leadership, communication, negotiation, advocacy and stakeholder management are all essential qualities sought, as is the warmth, empathy, good humour, integrity and credibility necessary to inspire others to follow. Whilst GAICD status or equivalent governance qualifications will be an advantage, they are not essential.
Compelling exposure to the wine and grape industry will naturally be an advantage but applications are nonetheless welcomed from experienced professionals from comparably challenging and dynamic sectors.
This key remunerated position will suit an accomplished individual keen to play a critical governance role in a pivotal period for the South Australian wine and grape sector.
