The Leaders Institute of South Australia is a dynamic, purpose driven, not-for-profit organisation committed to building a stronger, healthier and more prosperous South Australia by developing impactful leaders.  Through programs including the flagship Governor’s Leadership Foundation (GLF) program, Youth Governor’s Leadership Foundation (YGLF) and regional initiatives, the Leaders Institute delivers transformative leadership programs that expand the capacity of individuals and teams across private enterprise, government and community sectors.  Participants consistently describe their program experience as life changing – enabling growth in self-awareness, purposeful leadership and the ability to meet complex challenges with clarity, courage and compassion.

The voluntary role of Board Chair is a pivotal governance leadership opportunity to guide the strategic direction of the Institute and lead a values driven Board through its next exciting phase.  The voluntary Board comprises a select group of leaders and GLF alumni from private, public, and not-for-profit organisations who are deeply committed to steering and supporting the Institute to build great leaders for our State.  The Chair will be an influential governance leader with the ability to foster relationships across industry, government, community, partners and sponsors – critical stakeholders in the Institute’s mission.

We are seeking a candidate who brings:

• proven experience as a Chair or well established Non-Executive Director, with a highly developed understanding of governance and Board leadership;
• governance qualifications (AICD or similar) and a track record of effective stakeholder engagement and collaboration across diverse sectors;
• a deep affinity with the Institute’s purpose, vision and values;
• strategic acumen, warmth, authenticity, empathy and a collaborative and inclusive leadership style;
• the ability to cultivate philanthropic and fundraising support aligned with the Institute’s mission;
• a passion for contemporary leadership development and a commitment to social impact.
