    Lutheran Education Queensland (LEQ) represents 26 co-educational schools, 31 early years centres, and 23 outside of school care services across Queensland.  LEQ is a ministry of the Lutheran Church of Australia Queensland District.  It provides professional learning opportunities, advice and support for its diverse members encompassing spiritual, educational, governance, industrial, financial and policy support.  As a group of learning communities, supporting around 30,000 students across the State, LEQ is responsive, compassionate and collaborative enabling each community to achieve its individual vision.

    Following the retirement of the current Executive Director later in 2026, an opportunity has emerged for a proven professional to lead LEQ into its next phase.  Reporting to and working closely with the Council of LEQ (CLEQ), the role is responsible for:

    • formulating and implementing strategy to deliver on the organisation’s strategic plan;
    • leading and managing the LEQ office and its dedicated staff;
    • maintaining and enhancing strong relationships with a wide variety of stakeholders including the Lutheran Church, Lutheran Education Australia, government and associated regulatory agencies;
    • overseeing sound governance, risk and financial management for the entity and sector;
    • strengthening the agility and sustainability of the LEQ learning communities.

    Applications are encouraged from appropriately qualified and experienced professionals demonstrating human services leadership experience, with the ability to motivate and lead learning communities in the pursuit of education excellence in an ever-changing education environment.  Applications are encouraged from committed Christians who are prepared to model the values and ethos of LEQ and engender trust accordingly.  Whilst experience within schools or early learning centres will be an advantage, demonstrated success in a comparable domain and genuine passion for quality educational outcomes will also be seriously regarded.  High level stakeholder negotiation and relationship building skills, strategic thinking, political acumen, authenticity, diplomacy, decisiveness, pragmatism, integrity and empathy are natural requirements in such a role.

    This is a rare opportunity to make a significant contribution to Lutheran education in Queensland.
