The aim of Scouting is the social, physical, intellectual, emotional and spiritual development of children and young adults from 5 to 25 years within a framework of fun and activity. Scouts Australia SA Branch (Scouts SA) comprises over 6,000 volunteers and youth and employs a workforce of approximately 180 FTE staff. The Association has sizeable commercial and fundraising operations which include the Scout Recycling Centre, Scout Outdoor Centre and the Woodhouse Activity Centre, and has a turnover circa $35m.
This position, together with the Branch Executive Committee (BEC/Board) and Chief Commissioner, has overall responsibility for people leadership, operational efficiency, service delivery, financial control, stakeholder management and championing/promoting the organisation. Key responsibilities include:
- effectively leading, managing, developing and motivating the Scouts SA staff to deliver all operations and activities of the organisation;
- driving financial growth via sound financial control and strong business development and planning;
- continuing to drive strategic change and initiatives for the organisation and further positioning the Scouts SA brand and proposition within the South Australian community;
- providing advice and support to the BEC in regard to its governance responsibilities and managing risk and regulatory compliance.
