    The Motor Trade Association of SA/NT (MTA) is the peak body at the forefront of the retail motor industry in SA/NT, dedicated to protecting and advancing the interests of a diverse community of over 1,300 member businesses.  MTA Training and Employment is also the largest employer and trainer of apprentices in SA, training more than 1,000 apprentices and directly employing 450 who work in host businesses. With circa $35m revenue, the MTA is an influential association committed to driving the future of the automotive industry in South Australia and the Northern Territory.

    Reporting to the General Manager Media, Marketing and Policy, a fantastic opportunity exists for a passionate, ambitious and committed media relations and communications professional to join a highly regarded team to enhance MTA’s media communications and content.  Engaging and influencing diverse audiences and stakeholders through effective and tailored messaging, specific responsibilities include:

    • supporting the SA and NT automotive industries, and the MTA Training and Employment Centre to deliver purposeful and impactful story and content messaging throughout local, state and national media landscapes;
    • proactively identifying, pitching and securing media coverage relevant to print, radio, TV and digital platforms;
    • promoting the SA and NT automotive industries, and the MTA Training and Employment Centre to industry, government, within the organisation and to the wider community;
    • working closely with the MTA SA/NT CEO and leadership group in the creation of compelling and engaging content relating to external and internal public relations and communications;
    • working collaboratively with the marketing team to amplify social media content relating to policy advocacy and informative subject matter to diverse audiences.

    This position will suit a proactive, driven professional with experience in a media facing communications profession.  Professionals with backgrounds in journalism, political or government department communications roles with a strong media relations component are encouraged to apply.

    Highly developed interpersonal and relationship building skills with a proven ability to proactively identify and deliver press and social media opportunities, develop innovative communications and draft high quality written content will be critical.
