    Located in a state-of-the-art Salisbury Community Hub only 25 minutes from the CBD the role reports to the Deputy Chief Executive Officer and as a key member of the Senior Leadership Team, the Divisional Head Finance is responsible for the provision of strategic commercial advice to the organisation and leading a professional team in the development and presentation of the organisation’s annual plan, budget and long term financial plan to maintain Council’s long term financial viability.  Oversight of the full suite of financial management, systems, procedures, reporting and analysis, key areas of focus include:

    • provision of strategic commercial advice to the leadership team to support the delivery of key projects and initiatives;
    • management reporting to stakeholders and implementation of strong financial controls and compliance ensuring legislative and public accountability;
    • review and development of appropriate policies and procedures for the control of Council’s financial affairs;
    • management and ongoing evaluation of the rates section operations and analysis of rating options;
    • business planning and reporting assistance to divisions and business units providing a high level of customer service and value adding benefit;
    • preparation of strategic business plans and budgets including the treasury strategy to achieve Council objectives while minimising financing costs;
    • leading and developing the divisional team fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation and professionalism.

    Applications are invited from tertiary and CA/CPA qualified professionals with demonstrated experience in both financial and management accounting streams.  Capability with corporate finance systems, managing teams, technical accounting and budgeting and forecasting functions will be expected.  A collaborative interpersonal style, highly developed communication, negotiation and relationship building skills and strong business and commercial acumen will be key to a successful appointment.
