UnitingSA is a not-for-profit organisation with a vision for a compassionate, respectful and just community in which all people participate and flourish. Established in 1919, with a long and proud history of building stronger communities, today more than 1,000 employees and volunteers deliver a diverse range of programs across aged care, housing and community services to more than 12,000 South Australians every year, maximising the community impact from revenue of circa $140m.
UnitingSA is governed by a highly experienced, skills-based Board of Directors. The Board is committed to business and service excellence, innovation and positive outcomes for clients, residents, employees and other stakeholders. After a long and accomplished service and commitment to the organisation, the current Chair, Gael Fraser, will retire from the Board later in the year creating an opportunity for a consummate and proven governance leader to build on her positive legacy.
This is a significant strategic governance leadership role for a professional of integrity and vision who shares the organisation’s vision and values and wishes to make an ongoing impact. Working closely with talented Board colleagues and a highly respected CEO, the Chair will continue to drive strengthened governance, accountability and strategic direction to ensure the excellence for which this worthy organisation is known and trusted.
Expressions of interest are invited from experienced and appropriately qualified non-executive directors with proven governance leadership in complex purpose-driven environments. Experience in heavily regulated, human services environments will be particularly advantageous. Highly developed strategic capability, commercial and political acumen, relationship building, influencing and communication skills, together with warmth, empathy and credibility necessary to inspire others will be key to success. An authentic affinity with the organisation’s purpose and the capacity to commit the appropriate focus and time to this remunerated governance position will be important.
